Skateboard Tricks

Skateboarding is one adventure sport that every young boy on the block indulges in after he learns how to walk and run. However it is not just limited to the men, young girls can be seen surfing through the streets on colorful skateboards upto their own tricks. It is normal for skateboard learners to fall and hurt themselves. While expert level skateboarding calls for acrobatic skills, simple skateboarding is about riding on the skateboard and gliding down the road, knowing how to accelerate and slow down, gaining control and stopping as and when required. Once a learner has crossed this stage of basic learning, the exciting part comes in which is being able to indulge in skateboarding tips.

Indulging in skateboarding tricks can be a lot of fun. What with skateboarders jumping into the air and turning the skateboard with their feet at the same time and then landing safely back on the skateboard. With the innumerable tricks that have come about over the last thirty years, skateboarding competitions are commonly held each year.

Skateboard Tricks

These are a few simple skateboarding tricks which, if perfected could add lot of style and fun to your skateboarding.

Ollie
The Ollie is considered to be the 'trick of all tricks' and allows the skateboarder to reach a certain amount of vertical height. While performing this trick, the skater pops down with the back foot on the tail of the board. With this, the nose of the board pops up and the rider then drags it using the front foot, which helps in raising board higher. The skater then lifts the back foot and stops the drag. The back portion of the skateboard too rises to the same height as that of the front. The skateboard is said to be 'leveled out' in this position. The rider then gets ready to land on the ground with all the four wheel at a time.

50-50
The 50-50 trick is similar to the Casper. It is performed with the board held upside down. In this trick, the back foot should be placed on the back truck instead of the back tail. The trick could be performed either by holding the nose of the board with the hands or by using the front foot.

Kickflip
It is the most difficult of the basic skateboarding tricks. However, it makes sense to learn the Kickflip before the other flips. This trick involves the Ollie, but the difference is that instead of just dragging the front foot along the board one has to flick it along the heel edge of the nose with the toe. While doing this, the back foot has to be raised above the board so that the board can flip and one must also remember to jump in the air for a better kickflip.

Casper
This skateboarding trick is named after Bobby Casper Boyden. To perform this trick, the back foot should be placed on the top of the tail while the front foot must be near the nose. In order to exit this trick, a rolling flip is performed. However, there are many different ways to exit the trick.
